Cuba’s Ambassador to this nation, concurrently accredited to Baku, Carlos Valdes, stated in one of the messages that Berdimuhamedow conveyed his sincerest congratulations and best wishes to Diaz-Canel on the national holiday and Liberation Day.
The Turkmen head of State congratulated, in the second message, the Cuban people on the arrival of the New Year 2026 and wished the president good health, happiness, and success in his noble work, which contributes to strengthening cooperation and mutual understanding in the international arena.
Valdes stated that, in both congratulatory messages, Berdimuhamedow took the opportunity to wish the Cuban people peace, progress, and prosperity.
Turkmenistan and Cuba established diplomatic relations in March 1992, following this nation’s declaration of independence once the Soviet Union, of which it was one of the 15 constituent republics, was dissolved.
Since then, the two nations’ relations have been characterized by friendship and cooperation, focused on mutual support in international forums and the strengthening of political and economic ties.
