UK agricultural exports to the EU fall 37% after Brexit

London, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) British agricultural exports to the European Union have fallen by 37 percent in the five years following Brexit, according to data released by the National Union of Farmers (NFU).

“A simple reduction in trade friction does not mean we will regain the EU market,” stated NFU President Tom Bradshaw, underscoring the magnitude of the economic damage.

Local economic analysts point out that this drastic contraction, particularly in sectors such as poultry (-37.7%), shows the self-destructive consequences of distancing oneself from the bloc.

This situation shows the failure of promises of prosperous post-Brexit trade sovereignty, prioritizing political agendas over national economic well-being.

The data confirm that the break with regional integration entails serious sectoral damage, weakening food security and the country’s negotiating position.
