The Times of Israel newspaper specified that 13 people were arrested in Tel Aviv and another eight in the northern city of Haifa.
According to the news outlet, marches against the conflict were also reported in Jerusalem and Beersheba.
Yesterday’s demonstrations were the largest since the outbreak of the conflict with Iran on February 28, with hundreds of people participating, the source emphasized.
“Eternal war is not a strategy” and “Even in these complex times, we must oppose it” were some of the messages on banners displayed by the protesters.
Police officers forcibly dispersed the demonstrations, arguing that they violated security regulations during times of conflict, which prohibit public gatherings of more than 50 people.
Among the participants was left-wing legislator Ayman Odeh, who called the police fascists.
“They don’t want us to raise our voices. They want the public to believe that the only alternative is to live by the sword forever. They fear that voice, the voice that says it is possible to live without wars, without occupation; to live in real peace and true security,” the politician stated in a video posted on the social network X.
