The head of the Ministry of National Defense (MDN), Sandra Lazo, reported on her social media account that she is working with the Ministry’s General Staff, the commanders-in-chief of the Army, Air Force, and Navy, and the authorities of the National Directorate of Military Health.
The purpose is to determine the government’s capacity to “contribute to the relief efforts following the double earthquakes that affected the brotherly people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”
Lazo pointed out that President Yamandu Orsi has already been informed about the matter, and noted that discussions have also taken place with the Minister of Public Health, Cristina Lustemberg, and Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin, who “is in contact with the Venezuelan consul.”
“Depending on the needs identified, the Ministry of National Defense (MDN), through the Armed Forces, will be present providing the necessary humanitarian aid,” the minister stated.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff stated that they can collaborate with four drones for search and rescue operations, mobile emergency communications centers, and personnel specialized in operating debris removal machinery.
They can also provide “three K9 teams” (dog units). The MDN can also assist with specialist personnel for operating water purification plants and electric generators, and with the distribution of blankets.
