Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian responded to recent reports stating that high-ranking officials at the US Department of Defense considered the possibility of military action against Cuba.
Lin affirmed that Beijing took note of those reports and underscored that the use or the threat of force in international relations seriously violates the United Nations Charter and endangers regional and international peace and security.
The spokesperson reiterated that China firmly opposes such actions and remembered that the UN General Assembly (UNGA) recently decided, by an overwhelming majority, to continue the debate on the need to end the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.
The official said this decision r
shows the voice of justice from the international community in support of the island.
Lin urged the United States to end threats of the use of force immediately and any form of blockade against the Caribbean nation.
