Dubbed “Operation Interrupted Network,” the action involved executing precautionary measures against eight suspects—aged 19 to 31—located in the states of Santa Catarina, Parana, Sao Paulo, Pernambuco, and Rio Grande do Sul, with support from the civil police forces of those states.
The investigation, led by the PCDF’s Division for the Prevention and Combat of Violent Extremism, began after the receipt of a technical report from Ciberlab—a specialized laboratory under the National Secretariat of Public Security (Ministry of Justice and Public Security)—according to the news portal *Metripoles*.
According to authorities, an analysis of communications attributed to the suspects revealed repeated references to Brasilia as the destination for a mobilization planned for the upcoming October elections.
The materials examined included conversations regarding the potential storming of public buildings, criteria for target selection, tactical organization strategies, and methods for recruiting participants from various regions of the country.
Investigators also identified the exchange of maps, architectural blueprints, and 3D models of buildings located in the central area of the Brazilian capital, as well as manuals containing instructions for manufacturing explosive devices.
The police force clarified that, at the current stage of the inquiry, the alleged acts have not been classified under Brazil’s Anti-Terrorism Law. They noted that the potential criminal liability of each suspect will depend on the forensic analysis of the seized material and the conclusion of the proceedings, which remain under judicial seal.
