The Network warns in an open letter to the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean that this hostile policy seeks to subordinate our peoples’ sovereign will to the United States’ strategic interests.
The call describes as grotesque a press briefing held at the United Nations by the US ambassador alongside terrorist Orlando Gutierrez Boronat, which concerned the alleged detention of Raul Castro.
The letter notes that such an appearance reflects a worldview in which national sovereignty, international law, and the principles of coexistence between States are subordinated to the will of a power that claims the right to judge, sanction, and threaten those who do not submit to its designs.
The Network points out that for more than six decades, the Cuban people have endured the consequences of an economic, commercial, energy, and financial blockade imposed by the United States, the extraterritorial nature of which exacerbates its effects and harms the living conditions of millions of people.
The solidarity group condemns the foreign policy led by Trump and Marco Rubio as “an expression of imperial arrogance that threatens world peace and questions the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter.”
