Argentines raise voices to demand a UN vote against the blockade

More Argentines raise their voices to demand a UN vote against the blockade

Buenos Aires, Oct 28 (Prensa Latina) A diverse group of prominent figures from various sectors of Argentine society and politics have demanded that the government vote in favor of Cuba at the UN and against the United States blockade.

Sonia Alessa, Secretary General of the Confederation of Education Workers of the Argentine Republic, condemned what she described as the “criminal blockade by the United States government against the sister Republic of Cuba,” in a video shared with Prensa Latina by the Multisectoral Solidarity Group for the island, based in Rosario.

Carlos del Frade, a provincial deputy for Santa Fe, demanded an end to the criminal blockade against Cuba; meanwhile, Claudia Balague—also a provincial legislator for Santa Fe, representing Rosario—expressed her condemnation of Washington’s intensified economic war against the Cuban people.

Sergio Rossi, a former Rosario city councilor and former Secretary of Strategy and Military Affairs at the national Ministry of Defense, voiced his support for the government and people of Cuba in the face of U.S. aggression and the blockade.

Ruben Pagura—an actor, playwright, and composer with the “Frente Cultura en Movimiento” (Culture in Motion Front) in Rosario—denounced the pressures, threats, and intimidation exerted by the U.S. State Department on other nations, aimed at forcing them to change their UN votes regarding the criminal policy of the blockade.

Agricultural producer and former director of the Argentine Agrarian Federation, Pedro Peretti, expressed his full solidarity with the Cuban government and people.

Ruben Giustiniani, a former national senator representing the “Igualdad y Participación” (Equality and Participation) movement in Rosario, also joined the campaign promoted by the Rosario-based Multisectoral Solidarity Group for Cuba.

The campaign calls on the central government to vote in favor of the resolution that denounces the blockade and demands its lifting. Likewise, this solidarity mobilization is supported by Santa Fe provincial deputy Fabián “Palo” Oliver; former Rosario city councilor Nire Roldán; and Olivia Dosko, an eight-year-old girl who—like her parents—loves Cuba and sent a video expressing her support for the children of Cuba.
