Chile’s Investigative Police (PDI) reported that 402.8 kilograms of these substances were seized in 2025, while the figure has risen to 579.4 kilograms in 2026, an increase of 176.6 kilograms.
Last year, ketamine accounted for 64.5 percent of the total amount seized; this year, that figure has climbed to 87 percent.
Ketamine is an anesthetic used as a sedative for humans during surgery or as a tranquilizer for animals; however, in high doses, it causes intoxication and hallucinations similar to those of LSD.
Ketamine is consumed here mixed with ecstasy, caffeine, cocaine base, methamphetamine, or other substances, commonly known as “tusi,” which is highly popular among young people.
This synthetic drug can cause liver and kidney damage, memory loss, difficulty concentrating, impaired motor function, psychotic episodes, anxiety, depression, and suicidal behavior.
