Chad launches health campaign amid dengue epidemic

N'Djamena, Nov 3 (Prensa Latina) In response to a dengue epidemic, authorities in Chad are currently engaged in a health campaign that includes sanitation efforts, the establishment of medical stations, and the provision of completely free medical services at public institutions.

Data from the Ministry of Health indicate that 353 cases and 14 deaths have been confirmed in the capital.

Officials added that several facilities have had to install additional beds, as the number of patients arriving with symptoms has exceeded existing capacity.

Prime Minister Allah-Maye Halina announced a government directive mandating that consultations, laboratory tests, and treatments at public health centers be provided free of charge.

Furthermore, he outlined plans for neighborhood cleanup operations, which will include fumigation, the removal of stagnant water, and the elimination of breeding grounds for the vectors that transmit the disease.
