Denmark is negotiating exchange of AstraZeneca vaccines

Copenhague, Apr 21 (Prensa Latina) Denmark's Minister of Health, Magnus Heunicke, on Wednesday acknowledged that it is negotiating with other countries the exchange of the country's Covid-19 vaccines supplied by the Anglo-Swedish AstraZeneca laboratoty.

‘It would be very intesting that Denmark could send its AstraZeneca vaccines to other countries in exchange of some of their Pfizer vaccines,’ Heunicke said at a meeting with politicians from the health commission at the Folketing (Danish Parliament).

However, he did not mention the States with which he is negotiating the possible trade, although he said that there is great interest in the vaccine, which has stopped being used as a preventive measure here since last month, following reports of deaths from blood clots in patients previously immunized.

The meeting addressed whether it is possible to carry out voluntary vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine without further clarifications.

Although a conclusion was not mentioned in this regard, the Ministry of Health clarified in a statement that there are major challenges to offering the vaccine to those who want it, including legal liability and the risk of compensation.

Some 150,000 Danish people have received the first AstraZeneca shot and are waiting for the second one.

Some 244,000 people have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19, and over 2,400 people have died since the outbreak of the pandemic.
