International project benefits Cuban producers

Matanzas, Cuba, May 18 (Prensa Latina) An international collaboration project, supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and financed by the European Union (EU), is currently favoring Cuban producers, a government source reported.

Tatiana Obiedo, president of the People’s Power Assembly in Martí municipality, in Matanzas province, told Prensa Latina that a month after implementing such a program, a bunch of milk producers were technologically equipped to increase milk volumes.

This initiative, she recalled, ‘is slated for four years. It has been financially supported with $4.4 million euros by the EU, and with over $2 million CUP by Cuba´s Ministry of Economy Planning.

As a specific objective of the plan: ‘Global Action against Climate Change: towards a carbon neutral sustainable development model’, it is conceived to promote infrastructures for energy and food self-sufficiency, said Obiedo.
