Venezuelan workers debate bill on Economic Zones

Caracas, May 19 (Prensa Latina) Venezuelan workers on Wednesday are debating the draft Organic Law on Special Economic Zones, whose objective is to attract foreign investment and generate tax incentives.

Lawmaker Jesus Faria reported that this process will be carried out throughout the nation, to collect all initatives and proposals that will help improve the bill.

Faria, who is president of the Finance and Economic Development Commission of the National Assembly, added that the initiative is based on Hugo Chavez’s thinking, whose goal was to transform and revolutionize the economy. Faria said that the bill is aimed at setting up a more solid economy in the near future and generate trust to bring foreign and national private investment in the immediate future.

He also stressed that there is already a progressive increase of production in Venezuela, and the passing of the Law of Special Economic Zones will bring about legal security for all investors.
