Launched in April, the initiative has raised 80,804 euros, thanks to the contributions from hundreds of citizens, as well as organizations, trade unions and political forces, Cuba Linda President Didier Lalande told Prensa Latina.

He acknowledged people’s participation in the campaign and the fact that in practice, the donations are twofold the initial goal.

About 55,000 euros have already been transferred to MediCuba-Switzerland, a company with more than two decades of support for Cuba in the health sector, which accompanies the efforts to purchase syringes and needles for the immunization of the Cuban people.

Lalande pointed out that all that remains to be done is to make a money transfer by late June, considering that other people and associations are interesting in making their donations.

The Cuban Government expressed gratitude for the actions underway in several continents to support its objective of protecting the entire population from Covid-19 before the end of this year with its own vaccines, despite the impact of the United States blockade.
