Floods and mudslides claim 38 lives in Nepal

Kathmandu, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Flash floods and landslides caused by torrential rains in Nepal added another 38 deaths, including seven children, and fifty injured after the last three weeks.

The National Disaster Risk Management Authority noted that 51 people were injured and 24 others, including three children, are missing due to floods and landslides in different parts of the country.

1,250 people have been evacuated from different parts affected by the disaster.

Nearly 790 houses are flooded, while 519 homes and 19 bridges have been destroyed.

Personnel from the Army, Police and Armed Police Forces have been mobilized to conduct rescue operations. More than 5,100 people had to leave their homes.

Nepalese plains areas are flooded by rising rivers, while hill settlements face increasing risks of landslides, according to authorities.
