The event will take place until July 9th under the title Cuba Va Conmigo (lit. ‘Cuba Goes With Me’) with the participation of 88 artists living in some 15 countries.
The space arose from the collaboration between the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Relations of Cuba, and has the support of the La Rueda Films production house.
Renowned personalities of music, literature, visual arts and stage performances will star in this initiative, aimed at designing new routes of exchange and artistic collaboration and leaving open the possibility of subsequent editions, even before the end of the year.
According to statements made by the Vice Minister of Culture Fernando León Jacomino in a press conference, the meeting establishes a bridge to connect the Cuban community based in other countries with the events in Cuba and promote an organic relationship based on art.
Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla highlighted on Twitter the importance of the meeting, which also constitutes a tribute to Cuban history and roots, regardless of geographical borders.
The festival seeks to stimulate a relationship within a diaspora that has never ceased to express a sense of belonging to its origins, as evidenced by the 166 Cuban associations existing in 80 countries.
