China has an important position in the international arena and Syria aspires to expand the prospects for cooperation with Beijing in several levels, taking into account its strong presence and its moral policies that favor the majority of the countries and peoples globally, the Syrian statesman said at the meeting.

Al-Assad thanked China for its support in various spheres and its positions adopted in international forums in support of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independent decision of the Arab nation.

For its part, the head of Chinese diplomacy reiterated his country’s ongoing support for Syria’s fight against terrorism, the blockade and the inhumane sanctions.

Wang conveyed President Xi Jinping’s congratulations to President al-Assad for his victory in the general elections.

‘Its success demonstrates the victory of the people and their firm determination to face and resist all challenges and attempts to dominate it,’ he said.

The Chinese minister reiterated his country’s interest in Syria’s participation in the ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ due to its geographical location and important role in the region.
