IAEA director general receives Cuban diplomat

Vienna, Jul 23 (Prensa Latina) The Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Cuban Embassy in Austria, Marlen Redondo Falcon, was received on Friday by the director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi.

Redondo Falcon reiterated Cuba’s commitment to the IAEA’s Zodiac initiative, aimed at strengthening the capacities of countries to deal with diseases of zoonotic origin, such as Covid-19.

She also expressed Cuba’s interest in being part of the Agency’s new project, which aims to control plastic pollution in the seas and oceans (Nutec).

For his part, Grossi recognized the positive and efficient work done by Cuba over the years in supporting the IAEA’s work.

Likewise, the Cuban diplomat took the opportunity to denounce the manipulation and disinformation campaigns promoted by the United States against Cuba, with the goal of destabilizing the country politically.
