For the center-left political coalition, the present Covid-19 situation is being worsened due to the government decision to conduct Uruguay´s largest economic adjustment in recent years, thus bringing about the worst living conditions in a long time, with a 40% increase in poverty, job losses and informality, poor income for Uruguayan families, and the shut down of thousands of micro and small businesses.

‘We are also facing up a new chapter in the reduction of our freedoms, of the national budget for health, education, housing and social care emergencies,’ the statement read.

The FA reaffirmed itself as a political project of change to continue expanding and adding new groups and sensitivities, with doors and windows open for all those organizations intending to face the economic adjustment and a new change in Uruguay.
