Mexico with 23,600 Covid-19 cases in one day

Mexico City, Aug 20 (Prensa Latina) The Mexican Health Ministry today confirmed 23,600 Covid-19 infections, bringing the total number of cases to 3,175,211, since the beginning of the pandemic.

Deaths also increased with 850 more than those reported on Wednesday, bringing the total to 251,319.

The daily technical report indicates that estimated cases maintained their upward trend, with an increase of 3.0 percent for the week of August 1-7, compared to the previous epidemiological week.

However, hospital occupancy remains stable, as saturation of ventilator beds is reported unchanged at 48 percent, while general beds even reported a decrease of one percentage point, for a national occupancy rate of 54 percent.

Regarding the update of the national vaccination strategy, it was reported that 634,325 people were inoculated yesterday, amounting to 79 million 399,398 doses applied since last December.

The federal agency detailed that up to this Friday, 138,027 active cases have been registered, with an incidence rate of 107.02 per 100,000 inhabitants ( from August 6 to 19, 2021).
