Covid-19 killed half a thousand in sub-Saharan Africa

Nairobi, Sep 7 (Prensa Latina) The Covid-19 death toll in sub-Saharan Africa in the last 24 hours rose to 556, according to the daily report of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CPCE), under the African Union.

Now the total number of deaths due to causes associated with the pandemic unleashed by the SARS-CoV-2 infection rose to 199,232 according to Prensa Latina’s count based on official reports from the health services of the southern Saharan states.

The behavior of infections was also low in relative terms: 17,135 in the 24 hours of Monday, which raised the accumulated number of infections to 7,934,119.

Both statistics are low compared to the situation in other areas of the planet where the disease is ravaging both the number of deaths and the number of people infected, particularly due to the emergence of new and more aggressive variants of the virus.
