On Twitter, Bruno Rodríguez reaffirmed “solidarity with Nicaraguan people and Government of Reconciliation and National Unity in the face of unacceptable US intervention after adopting a bill to levy new unilateral sanctions on Nicaragua”.
President Joe Biden enacted on Wednesday the so-called Reinforcing Nicaragua´s Adherence to Conditions for Electoral Reform (RENACER) Act, which enables new coercive measures on Nicaragua.
The bill seeks to redouble pressure on President Daniel Ortega´s administration, which past Sunday won its fourth consecutive term, after reaching 75.92% of votes.
