On Twitter, Mr. Guterres posted that only by embracing diversity and respecting each other will we solve the biggest challenges ahead of us.

He also pointed out that racism “is a global evil which remains prevalent in our societies.”

For this reason, Guterres tweeted ¨we must raise our voices against all racism and racist behavior. We urgently need to fight racism, dismantle racist structures and reform racist institutions.¨

On November 16, 1995, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization adopted a Declaration of Principles on Tolerance.

This document specified that tolerance recognizes universal human rights, fundamental freedoms of others and the diversity of peoples.
