Syria and Iran outline action plan to boost trade relations

Irán, Siria, plan, comercio
Damascus, Jun 1 (Prensa Latina) The boards of directors of the Joint Chamber of Commerce of Syria and Iran announced a comprehensive action plan that contributes to the development of commercial ties between the two countries, as reported by the media.

The plan includes the complete elimination of the 4% customs duties imposed on goods circulating between the two countries, in addition to having both countries exclude each other from the prohibition lists of imported products so as to facilitate the flow of goods. There was also the proposal of a simplification of the procedures for the entry of Syrian products into Iran, taking into account the difficult circumstances that Syria is going through.

Agreements were made to solve the problem of money transfer by accrediting a private bank in both countries with two authorized exchange offices, and opening commercial accounts and guaranteeing the rights of the parties in any commercial contract.

The creation of a joint transportation company between businessmen from the two countries is also included in the plan, along with the creation of a land and sea line that helps reduce shipping costs and increase trade.

A data bank will also be created to facilitate access to the products required by exporters and importers, and a commercial arbitration center will be established in both countries to resolve commercial disputes.

The number of fairs for the direct sale of products from the two countries will be increased, and a commercial center for Syrian products will be established in Iran, as well as promoting tourism between the two countries by supporting tourism companies and offices.

Iran is a military and political ally of Syria, and the two countries strive to increase their trade and economic relations so as to overcome the obstacles generated by the sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union against the two countries.
