The organization detailed on its website that it is a humanitarian assistance and will support the emergency caused by the fire, which occurred exactly at a fuel base.

On Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told Prensa Latina that China would provide humanitarian aid to Cuba through its Red Cross Society.

Chinese President Xi Jinping conveyed his solidarity to his Cuban counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel, expressed his deep condolences to the relatives and those injured during the event, and ratified Beijing’s willingness to assist the Caribbean nation.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying pronounced herself in similar terms on the incident and described it as painful.

In this way, China joins other countries globally, prominent figures and organizations that show support to an event that has shocked all the Cuban people.

The fire started on Friday during a strong storm when lightning struck one of the giant crude oil tanks and unleashed the blaze at the Supertanker Base in the industrial zone of Matanzas.
