US is interested in drawing out Ukraine conflict, says SVR chief

Serguei-Narishkin
Moscow, Sep 8 (Prensa Latina) The United States is interested in spinning out the Ukraine conflict, in spite of great losses of the Ukrainian armed forces, the Chief of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Serguei Narishkin said on Thursday.

Referring to the military operation announced past February 24 by President Vladimir Putin to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, Serguei Narishkin said last week´s incidents speak of this U.S. attitude to the losses, local television reported.

The United States seeks by all means to maintain the Ukraine conflict, despite high number of casualties among Ukrainian troops and the impoverishment of the economy of its “satellites”, he pointed out in clear allusion to the European states currently affected by the energy crisis.

Local media agreed that the more than 7,000 punitive measures applied by Western powers, including the European Union, against Russia had a boomerang effect on those same countries.

The United States and allies manipulated the enmity vices created in Ukraine and used it as a platform against Russia.

Yet the Western powers brought real neo-fascists to power there, threatened non-conformists with political terror and unleashed a civil war, Narishkin said by referring to the conflict that broke out in 2014 in the Donbass coal mining area.

In order to preserve its own hegemony, the United States stirs up tensions in various points of the planet.

Washington utterly ignores Russia’s stance on its rejection of the eastward enlargement of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), as it does with China by encouraging tactless visits of US politicians to Taiwan, he said.

To Narishkin, the European nations are now completely subservient to the White House, and most politicians are not guided by the aspirations of their own citizens.

History teaches us that attempts at world domination by one country inevitably end up with a complete failure, he said.
