Lula heads electoral walk in Rio and Bahia

Lula-Caminata-Electoral
Brasilia, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) Former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Wednesday leads an electoral walk through the Complexo do Alemão in Rio de Janeiro towards the runoff vote on October 30.

The presidential candidate of the Workers’ Party (PT) affirmed in another district of Rio de Janeiro state on Wednesday that, if elected, he will implement policies to increase social inclusion in the South American nation.

According to PT federal deputy Washington Quaquá, Lula made “the cable cars, the Growth Acceleration Program, in the territory. Today, all works and social actions have paralyzed.”

He denounced that far-right President Jair Bolsonaro “did nothing for Rio. Life will be better with Lula. We take to the streets until October 30, so Rio de Janeiro contributes to the victory in the runoff vote.”

According to lula.com.br, this Wednesday, Lula and Jerônimo Rodrigues, candidate for the government of Bahia state, will participate in another march called Brazil of Hope in Salvador, the capital of the territorial division.

The Electoral Justice confirmed that the former president got 48.43 percent of the votes in the first round held on October 2, versus 43.20 percent for Bolsonaro, who seeks a reelection for the Liberal Party.

None of the candidates for Brazil’s presidency achieved an absolute majority of votes in this first round, that is, more than half of the valid votes (excluding blank and null votes) as the Brazilian legislation to be elected establishes.
