President Diaz-Canel highlights work of Cuba’s Armed Forces

Havana, Oct 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel noted on Tuesday that the members of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (MINFAR) celebrated their day amid the recovery efforts after Hurricane Ian hit the western part of the country.

“Where Ian’s winds hit the hardest, working hard, doing work, the officers and combatants of the FAR celebrated,” the Cuban president wrote on his Twitter account.

On October 16, 1959, Law number 600 dissolved the Army, the Navy, the National Police, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other corps, and Law number 599 eliminated the Ministry of National Defense, and instead, the MINFAR was created.

After the triumph of the Revolution, on January 1, 1959, and until February 2008, leader Raul Castro was the minister of the Armed Forces of Cuba, which has the fundamental mission of fighting the aggressors, and together with the people, develop the war as long as necessary to achieve victory.
