Crypto investors lost 3.5B dollars to scammers in 2022 – Study

robo-criptomonedas
Washington, Jan 1 (Prensa Latina) Global cryptocurrency markets are reeling after the infamous FTX implosion burned an estimated .5 billion hole in investors' pockets by scammers who used separate mechanisms to deceive crypto investor victims in 2022, according to a report published today by Chainalysis.

According to Chainalysis, a company in charge of generating information based on different blockchains, indicated that “the average transfer from crypto investor victims to rug-pulls is just over $1,000.”

From its own perspective, this means that, even taking into account that some crypto investors fall for scams multiple times, cryptocurrency scam is presently affecting millions of crypto victims.

“Moreover, most of those victims are probably ordinary people who have been investing a bit on cryptocurrency,” Chainalysis added.

Crypto scams are one of the main issues within the crypto world. In fact, it is estimated that around $26 billion in cryptocurrencies were scammed from 2017 to 2021.

Regarding 2022, news generated throughout the year showed that from several thousand dollars in cryptocurrencies were scammed from university students, to smaller amounts that victims transferred when scammed by scammers.
