Cuba thanks France for solidarity, reaffirms commitment to peace

Paris, Feb 2 (Prensa Latina) Cuban ambassador to France Otto Vaillant on Thursday thanked France for its solidarity with Cuba and also reaffirmed his country's commitment to peace, multilateralism, International Law and the UN Charter.

Alongside the Cuban ambassador to UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Yahima Esquivel, Mr. Vaillant led an evening event to commemorate the 64th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution wishing guests a successful 2023.

We express our deep gratitude to the solidarity associations, trade unions, Cuban residents and friends who have always supported the Cuban people, Vaillant said.

Regarding the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for over 60 years, Vaillant termed it as inhumane and strongly condemned its extraterritorial nature, which impacts European banks, companies and citizens in general.

The US blockade is the most severe and longest system of unilateral sanctions ever imposed on a country, and constitutes the major drawback to our domestic economic development, Vaillant warned.
