Hamas delegation visited Egypt to tackle Gaza situation

Ramallah, Feb 10 (Prensa Latina) Representatives of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) met with Egypt's intelligence chief Abbas Kamel to tackle the situation in the occupied territories after an increase in Israel attacks, the Palestinian press reported on Friday. The organization's top figure, Ismail Haniyeh, and other leaders such as Saleh Al-Arouri, Khaled Meshaal, Khalil Al-Hayya, and Rouhi Mushtaha headed the delegation that visited Cairo, Al Quds reported.

During the meeting, they addressed the current risks and challenges of the increasing violations by Tel Aviv’s troops and how to deal with them, the news agency noted.

The situation in the Gaza Strip, where more than two million Palestinians live under severe restrictions due to the Israeli siege, was discussed.

The coastal area has been under blockade since 2007 after Hamas took control of the territory.

Last week, an Islamic Jihad delegation also visited Cairo to analyze the situation in Gaza in the face of an escalation of violence that could lead to a new large-scale armed clash.
