Cuban Embassy pays tribute to Syrian artist Duaa Bastati (+Photo)

Damascus, Mar 17 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban embassy to Syria on Friday paid tribute to Syrian artist Duaa Bastati for her exceptional works. Bastati was born with no arms, but she never let this be a major issue. She graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts and organized several exhibitions with pictures she drew with her own feet.

She participated in cultural and political activities at the Cuban Embassy in Syria, with paintings highlighting the historical relations between Syria and Cuba and painted portraits of the historic leaders of the two nations, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, and Hafez Al-Asaad.

We have the great honor to meet an exceptional artist, who carries in her art the sensitivity of a great Syrian woman who, like her own people, is a genuine representative of the spirit of resistance and victory ahead of adversity, Cuban Ambassador Luis Mariano Fernandez stated.

The diplomat added that Bastati´s work and life is for Cubans an example of what human beings are capable of doing for a better world of peace, solidarity, and love without selfishness, petty sanctions, wars, or genocidal blockades that make people suffer.
