Cuba to prioritize improvement of primary health care

Havana, May 9 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) on Tuesday maintains among its priorities the improvement of primary health care as a first step to achieve the well-being and quality of life of the population.

The Ministry will reinforce its strategy in the Family Doctor and Nurse Program, and the Mother-Child Programs, and will strengthen the activity of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology and the training and professional improvement processes.

The lines of work include the improvement of science and innovation activities and the management of medical insurance to improve the quality of services.

Depending on the availability of financing, the investment program for the repair, maintenance and recovery of infrastructure and medical and non-medical equipment will continue.

Authorities, according to the Ministry’s web site, urged to use resources efficiently and to guarantee the control that should exist over them.

They warned about several diseases that continue to affect the people and stressed that the effects of the epidemic caused by Covid-19 are still evident in the morbi-mortality of the Cuban population.
