The warning issued until Tuesday indicates that the most affected areas are the Guna Yala region and Colon, Veraguas, Cocle, West Panama, Panama, Darien, Herrera, and Los Santos provinces.

The institution stated in its press release that dust particles can affect people sensitive to allergic conditions and respiratory diseases, such as those with asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, and cancer, as well as pregnant women and children.

The Sahara dust reduces air quality, which increases pollution, it adds.

North America, the Caribbean, and South America are the most affected regions, specialists noted.
