Nigerian Army eliminates 51 extremist elements

Abuja, Jun 2 (Prensa Latina) Government forces in Nigeria eliminated 51 elements of extremist groups in operations carried out in northern areas from May 18 to the 1st of this month, informed a military source.

The Director of Defense Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami, also informed that 876 members of the Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province formations were handed over to the Army in the referred period.

In addition to capturing weapons, the military troops also arrested 22 logistic suppliers of the groups considered as terrorists and rescued 16 kidnapped civilians alive, the source said in his biweekly summary of military operations.

In recent months, Nigerian troops have intensified attacks against extremist groups and criminal gangs in the northeast and northwest regions of the country, with the aim of annihilating their members, who kill or kidnap people for whose release they demand ransom.

In order to reduce the rate of violence in this country, the newly installed president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, promised, along with the reinforcement of the security aspect, to guarantee more jobs and improve the living conditions of the population.

Ejército de Nigeria elimina a 51 elementos extremistas

Abuja, 2 jun (Prensa Latina) Fuerzas gubernamentales en Nigeria eliminaron a 51 elementos de grupos extremistas en operaciones realizadas dentro de zonas norteñas del 18 de mayo al 1 de este mes, informó hoy una fuente militar.

El Director de Operaciones de los Medios de Defensa, general de División Musa Danmadami, comunicó también que en el referido período se entregaron al Ejército 876 integrantes de las formaciones Boko Haram y Estado Islámico de la Provincia de África Occidental.

Además de capturar armas, las tropas castrenses detuvieron, por otro lado, a 22 proveedores logísticos de las agrupaciones consideradas terroristas y rescataron con vida a 16 civiles secuestrados, indicó la fuente al ofrecer el resumen informativo quincenal sobre operaciones militares.

En los últimos meses, las tropas nigerianas intensificaron los ataques contra grupos extremistas y bandas delincuenciales en las regiones noreste y noroeste del país, con el objetivo de aniquilar a sus integrantes, los cuales matan o raptan personas por cuya liberación exigen pago de rescate.

Para disminuir el índice la violencia en este país, el recién instalado presidente, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, prometió, junto al reforzamiento del aspecto de la seguridad, garantizar más puestos laborales y mejorar las condiciones de vida de la población.
