India calls “productive” consultation with Foreign Ministry of Brazil

New Delhi, Jun 21 (Prensa Latina) The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described as "productive" and "substantial" the debates of the second inter-foreign office consultation with Brazil aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.

At the meeting, held in Brasilia last Tuesday, delegations led by the Foreign Minister of India, Saurabh Kumar, and Brazil, Eduardo Saboia, examined possibilities to expand cooperation in science and technology, agriculture, energy, health, cybernetics and defense, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India.

They also agreed to intensify bilateral commitments in order to accelerate the growth of trade and expressed the convenience of a high-level meeting of business leaders in this regard, welcomed the regular call for meetings of institutional mechanisms in different sectors, and reiterated the importance of upcoming high-level visits.

The parties also appreciated the rapid increase in bilateral trade over the past two years and exchanged views on regional and global developments.

The representations of India and Brazil also planned to coordinate closely in multilateral platforms, including those of the United Nations, the Group of Twenty (G20), the BRICS and IBSA (dialogue forum integrated by the two countries and South Africa).

During the consultation, which took place in the context of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral ties, the participants also agreed on a new meeting in India at a convenient date for both parties.
