Four deaths in shooting at popular bar in California, U.S.

Washington, Aug 24 (Prensa Latina) At least four people were killed -including the attacker- and five were shot and wounded during a shooting at a biker bar in southern California (west), according to media reports.

The shooting occurred last night at Cook’s Corner, a popular biker hangout in the rural Trabuco Canyon region of Orange County.

The shooter was a retired law enforcement officer who worked in Ventura County between 1986 and 2014, Police Commander Mike Brown told a news outlet.

A statement from Providence Mission Hospital further notified that two of the wounded are in critical condition.

Cooks Corner, founded in 1884, is the meeting place for the motorcycling community in Southern California.

The state governor, Gavin Newsom, is closely following the events and “is coordinating with local authorities as more details emerge,” a tweet from his office said.

In the United States anyone can easily access a firearm, because the main requirement to obtain one is to have reached the age of 18.

For some types of weapons there are states that establish 21 as the minimum age, while background checks generate controversy.

A total of 465 shootings are reported so far this year in the United States, according to an update from the Gun Violence Archive tracker.
