Brazilian justice seeks to identify coup financiers

Brasilia, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) The Parliamentary Investigation Commission (CPI) of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District, will deepen the search for the financiers of the riots against democratic institutions in Brazil.

The Metrópoles website stated that the board will also investigate the participation of public agents in the coup attempts of last January 8th.

The colonel of the Military Police of the Federal District, Paulo José Ferreira de Sousa Bezerra, will appear on September 21st before the CPI, as he was responsible for the Department of Operations during the events.

The Attorney General’s Office denounced de Sousa Bezerra and arrested him on August 18th, as the Federal Police stated that he was responsible for the preparation of the containment plannings against protesters.

Ana Priscila Azevedo, organizer of the camp in front of the Army Headquarters in Brasilia, and of the invasion and depredation of the headquarters of the Three Powers (National Congress, Supreme Court and Presidential Palace) will appear in court on September 28th.

The accused appears in several videos and photos inciting and celebrating the riots. She also took selfies waving and smiling inside the Parliament building after the violent irruption of Jair Bolsonaro’s extremist followers.

After listening to the witnesses and carrying out the planned procedures, the last step of the CPI is the approval of the report, which must be done by December 8th. The document may contain the accusation against those responsible for the complot. The report will be delivered to the Public Ministry, which may file complaints against the commission’s targets.
