Palestine denounces in UN selective indignation at Gaza massacre

United Nations, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) The selective indignation at the death of Israeli civilians in the face of the massacre of Palestinians is scandalous and must stop, the ambassador of the occupied territory, Riyad Mansour, denounced before the General Assembly.

“We are gathered here while Palestinians in Gaza are under bombs, while families are being killed, hospitals are paralyzed, neighborhoods are being destroyed, while people are fleeing from place to place with no safe place to go,” he said.

During the emergency session convened by the forum to address the crisis, the diplomat questioned the lack of clarity in calling for a ceasefire in Gaza when a thousand Palestinians are killed every day and 70% of the victims are women and children.

The denunciation following the death of 1,000 Israelis does not show the same indignation as the killing of 1,000 Palestinians daily, he said.

They are taking us back 80 years, he said, describing as hypocritical the arguments of the occupying nation to justify its aggression against the enclave.

The Palestinians also suffer, Israel demands the release of hostages and then takes two million Palestinians hostage, he insisted.

The Palestinian ambassador stressed the need in this context for the arrival of increasingly necessary humanitarian deliveries. Hospitals are operating without anesthesia, and doctors and patients alike are wondering if help is on its way, he lamented.

Why don’t they feel the urgency to put an end to the killing,” Mansour questioned.

The diplomat recalled that the Gaza Strip faces these attacks after 16 years of blockade and five wars. Its inhabitants are survivors who rebuilt their lives again and again, he said in a call to protect their lives.

“If you don’t stop it for all those who have died, stop it for all those who can be saved,” he urged.
