Yoel Torres, the general manager of this MSME (micro, small and medium-sized enterprises), based in the municipality of Fomento, in Sancti Spiritus, told Prensa Latina that its main clients are tourism chains.

“We have served around 1,300 tons of plastic wood already shaped,” he added.

Torres commented that enterprise’s plan is to export 500 tons of plastic wood to the Dominican Republic, which would be the second batch, which will follow a first one of 24 tons to that country.

The MSME is mainly in charge of the catwalks, considered its main product, although they make everything from kiosks, sale outlets and even beach umbrellas.

This year we decided to create an alliance with La Esperanza Non-Agricultural Cooperative (CNA) and their plastic wood products are included in this export,’ he pointed out.

The company’s main clients are is Varadero, Cuba’s major beach resort located in the western province of Matanzas; the northern keys of Pinar del Rio, Ancon (Trinidad), Cayo Coco (Ciego de Avila) and Santiago de Cuba.

They also have walkways in the Lomas de Banao Ecological Reserve, run by the Sancti Spiritus Flora and Fauna Enterprise, and are present in ten Cuban provinces.
