Brazil condemns any act of violence worldwide

Brasilia, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) Brazil's Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira on Monday claimed his government strongly condemns any act of violence committed around in the world, in reference to the war currently being waged by Iran and Israel.

“Brazil always condemns any act of violence and calls for understanding between the parties,” Vieira told the press.

On Saturday, the Brazilian government called for the utmost restraint to the parties involved in the conflict between Iran and Israel, and also urged the international community to step up efforts to avoid an escalated confrontation.

It urged Brazilians living in those countries to follow guidelines disclosed on the websites and social networks of the Brazilian embassies.

Vieira recalled that the Itamaraty Palace, headquarters of the Foreign Ministry, has been monitoring since October the situation of Brazilians in the Middle East, particularly in Israel, Palestine and Lebanon.

Since the beginning of the war in Gaza, the President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva administration has been warning about destructive potential of rising hostilities to the West Bank and other regional nations.

In another statement released by Itamaraty, the government advised Brazilians to avoid traveling to Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Iran.

On Sunday, the Brazilian Air Force said it was prepared and ready to rescue more Brazilian nationals in the Middle East.

The Air Force indicated that it is at the Government’s disposal “to meet any demand for the rescue of Brazilians in conflict zones”.
