Milei is accused of putting Argentine society at risk

Buenos Aires, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) The support of Javier Milei's government to Israel breaks a historic tradition in international relations and puts an important part of Argentine society at risk, political scientist Atilio Borón said.

In statements to AM750 radio station, the analyst and sociologist described as irresponsible the president’s decision to support Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unconditionally, and to hold a meeting of the crisis committee with the participation of Israeli Ambassador Eyal Sela.

He also warned about the consequences for Argentina of being part of a conflict in which it has much to lose.

In this regard, Borón warned about the economic costs and the possibility of reprisals and attacks on Argentine citizens.

We have to get out of this story in which Iran is a terrorist State and Israel is the personification of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, he said.

On Sunday, Milei interrupted a trip to Denmark and returned to Argentina from the United States, where he had met with tycoon Elon Musk and was recognized by the Orthodox Jewish organization Chabad Lubavitch.

The excuse for the interruption of his trip was holding an urgent meeting on the situation in the Middle East and Argentina’s role.

On several occasions, the head of State has expressed his alignment with the United States and Israel and justified the genocide perpetrated by Israel in Palestine, for which he has been strongly criticized.

In the last few hours, former President Alberto Fernandez has expressed concern for the current Government’s position and has urged the administration to promote a ceasefire and search for peace.
