According to Ismael Drullet, member of the National Secretariat of the Cuban Workers’ Confederation (CTC, in Spanish), more than 1,000 delegates and guests are participating in the event, which seeks to strengthen world solidarity with the Cuban people and its Revolution.

Organized by the CTC, the National Trade Unions, and the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP, in Spanish), the event begins this Tuesday morning with visits to 12 workplaces in both territories with influence in the country’s development.

The members of the solidarity groups will learn first-hand about the complex situations resulting from the economic, financial, and commercial siege policy of the United States against Cuba, which has lasted for more than six decades, Drullet said.

Later, the meeting will continue at the Conference Center in the capital with debates in favor of lifting the US blockade and the legacy of solidarity of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, the labor leader stated.
