China rejects US stance on Taiwan

Beijing, May 4 (Prensa Latina) China on Saturday rejected the United States' stance on Taiwan's participation in the World Health Assembly, and condemned Washington's interference in its internal affairs.

Chen Binhua, a spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, reiterated China’s stance on Taiwan’s participation in the activities of the World Health Organization (WHO), and insisted on the “One China” principle as the fundamental foundation for international resolutions.

“Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly is feasible, but the Democratic Progressive Party authorities, to seek independence, are deliberately politicizing the health issue” with the help of external forces, he stressed.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed the US support for the invitation of Taiwan as an observer at this year’s World Health Assembly.

Beijing has accused Washington of saying one thing and doing another, and urged against separatist activities. Chinese authorities recently blamed Washington for exaggerating the alleged military threat and adding fuel to the fire of a cross-strait war to interfere in China’s internal affairs.
