Israel accused of intensifying land theft in the West Bank

Ramallah, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) The Commission of Resistance to the Wall and Colonization accused the government of Benjamin Netanyahu of simplifying measures for the expropriation of more Palestinian lands in the occupied West Bank.

The head of that institution, Moayed Shaaban, pointed out in a statement that since that cabinet came to power at the end of 2022, radical changes were approved to push forward settlement expansion plans.

As part of that strategy, procedures were streamlined to legitimize outposts, as the camps set up by ultra-right-wingers in the West Bank are known.

These constructions are the germ of future Jewish colonies in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.

All of them are considered illegal by the international community and several UN Security Council resolutions, nevertheless, the authorities do not distinguish between those that are approved and those that are not.

Israel drew up a list of more than 70 colonial outposts to work to resolve their situation by providing them with basic services and security, which means imposing on us a system of ghettos and cantons to prevent the creation of a viable Palestinian state, he warned.

Shabaan also questioned the forced displacement of Bedouin communities to expand Israeli settlements.

Recently, the Commission reported that, since the beginning of the current cycle of violence on October 7, Israel seized 2,700 hectares of land in the West Bank.
