Hungary will maintain its efforts for peace in Ukraine, FM says

Budapest, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) Hungary will maintain its efforts to seek a negotiated solution to the conflict in Ukraine, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjártó, said referring to the presidency of his country in the European Union (EU).

To this end, we will hold another series of meetings in the coming weeks, Szijjártó commented, after the visit of the Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, to Kiev, where he presented a peace proposal to the Ukrainian President, Vladimir Zelensky.

Orban traveled days later to Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom he also discussed issues of the Ukrainian confrontation.

However, as soon as he set foot on Russian soil, Orban was slammed by European and EU leaders, criticizing his meeting with Putin and clarifying that he did not go to Moscow with any mandate from the European Union (EU).

The head of the government of this country considers that peace in Ukraine must be sought, as it cannot come about on its own.

Press media highlighted Zelensky’s rejection of the Hungarian peace initiative and Ukrainian legislation prohibiting all negotiations with Russia.
