The anti-aircraft defense detected and destroyed several unmanned aerial vehicles over Voronezh province, and their falling fragments caused a fire at a warehouse in Podgorensky district, where they detonated explosive materials, Gusev posted Sunday on the Telegram social network.
The governor added that “there were no civilian casualties” and that emergency and military services are working at the site to mitigate the situation. According to the official, the authorities have prepared buses to evacuate residents of the area if the need arises.
Russian territories bordering Ukraine, such as Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk and Voronezh, as well as the Crimean Peninsula, regularly report shell hits, drone raids, and other attacks from across the border, forcing the population to seek shelter elsewhere.
The province of Belgorod has been the hardest hit, with several incursions by sabotage groups from Ukraine in recent months and continuous attacks on border municipalities with the use of multiple rocket launchers, mortars, and drones.
