Heavy rains expected in southeastern Mexico

Mexico City, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) The southeast of Mexico will receive heavy rains with electrical discharges, gusts of wind and possible hail, according to the National Meteorological Service.

According to a press release from the agency, the situation is due to the movement of tropical wave number 17 over the region and its interaction with instability at high levels of the atmosphere.

The report also refers to the Mexican monsoon, which will cause strong to very strong rainfall, electrical discharges, strong to very strong gusts of wind with possible “tolvaneras” and hail in the northwest of the country, as well as rains and showers in the peninsula of Baja California.

On the other hand, low pressure channels over the Mesa del Norte, Mesa Central and the Yucatan Peninsula, together with the entrance of humidity from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, will bring heavy to very heavy rain showers and precipitation, electric discharges, gusts of wind and possible hail in those regions.

These phenomena will also affect the northeast and west of the country, and will also generate heavy rains in the state of Guerrero.

Specialists foresee that the very hot afternoon environment will remain in the northwest, north and northeast of the nation, with temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius in areas of the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo Leon and Tamaulipas.
