In his profile on social network X, the head of state affirmed that upon their arrival, the Cuban Paralympic athletes will receive a well-deserved welcome.
We have enjoyed everyone’s performance; with you we have learnt resilience, humility and patriotic pride. Cuba embraces you, champions,” the president said in his message.
Cuba closed its performance in Paris 2024 with 10 medals: six gold, three silver and one bronze, and obtained the 24th place in the classification by countries, thus improving the performance of the last summer event in Tokyo 2020, where it finished in the 35th place.
Tonight, the Paralympic competitors are expected to arrive in Havana, led by the legend Omara Durand, who won three gold medals (in 100, 200 and 400 meters) to reach 11 titles in summer events with which she closed her brilliant sports career.
The sports delegation, which also includes technicians, medical personnel and managers, will visit several places in the city of Havana, where they will be honored on behalf of the entire country.
