Since President Nayib Bukele took power in 2019, the country reached 778 days without murdered victims until Wednesday and maintains a continuity started in mid-November that should provide a homicide rate of less than two per 100,000 people, the lowest in its history.
To achieve this result, the government relies on the Territorial Control Plan (PCT) armed by the emergency regime applied since March 27, 2022 and extended for 33 opportunities.
The information was confirmed by an X message from the National Civil Police (PNC), which announced early morning that it “ended on Wednesday, December 11, with zero homicides in the country.”
The 11 consecutive days without murders in December join the 24 days that closed January and February, the 22 that ended March, the 19 in April and the 21 that ended May, to which are added the 27 in October and the 25 in November to reach the great total of 260 days without murders until this Thursday.
